Villa La Angostura was founded in 1932 and the hotel was built in 1938, being one of the oldest buildings in the village. It was conceived by the famous architect Alejandro Bustillo, who
created a unique architectual style that gave a particular imprint to the area. He used local building materials to great effect: the wood he used was cypress and stones from

a quarry under the Quetrihué viewpoint. The stones were hauled by oxen to the site to the hotel, and squared by hand.
Bustillo designed and built several well-known buildings in the village, like the Messidor Government Residence, and the Asunción Chapel.
The hotel has been in the Cilley family since 1947 and has been updated without losing its rustic mountain style.
